* It is reported that bulk carrier, E.R. BAYONNE, experienced a main engine failure and went adrift off Kanlica Point, Turkey on 23 September 2020.

* The vessel was later taken under tow by Coastal Safety tugs to Istanbul Strait anchorage for inspection and repairs.

* It is likely that the Coastal Safety tugs will claim salvage under Turkish law, requiring the provision of salvage security prior to her departure. The possibility of a declaration of general average also exists, which could give rise to the need for additional GA security too.

* The vessel is reported to have been on a laden voyage from Narvik, Norway to Novorossiysk, Russia at the time of the casualty.

* Should you insure any cargo stowed on board this vessel and require our assistance, we would urge you to contact us as soon as possible.
