Report
* We have received reports that container ship, MAERSK CHATTOGRAM (IMO: 9761023), came into contact with container ship, HR TURAG whilst in position at Chattogram Port Outer Anchorage, Bangladesh on 1 May 2026, both vessel being accompanied after the event by three tugs.
* It is reported that MAERSK CHATTOGRAM sustained a significant breach of its aft starboard side shell plating, above the waterline as a result of the collision.
* Container ship HR TURAG (OMI: 9175779), GRT 14,063, was on a rotational voyage calling at Port Klang (Malaysia), Singapore and Chattogram. It is also reported to have been have sustained damage as a result of the collision. Both vessels are expected to need repairs,
* We understand that MAERSK CHATTOGRAM has been moved to berth at Chattogram Port with the assistance of three tugs, for cargo discharge operations and inspection, whilst HR TURAG remains at anchor.
* It is possible that GA and Salvage issues may arise as a result of this incident.
* We therefore recommend that you contact us urgently if you are concerned with any cargo on board either vessel so that we can immediately start taking steps to protect your interests
