Report

* We have received reports that containership NAVIOS VERMILION (IMO: 9324837) experienced a fuel leak in the cargo holds, which was identified during discharge operations at Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on 25 August 2026.

* It is reported that salvors are in the process of removing the affected containers. Subsequently, the shipowners have declared General Average as a consequence of the extraordinary costs incurred.

* GA security will be required prior to delivery of all cargo that was on board the vessel at the material time, and we are liaising with the Average Adjusters accordingly. Our guarantees are usually acceptable to GA adjusters, and we may therefore be able to assist in this respect.

* It is also likely that cargo stowed in the vicinity of the leak may have suffered damage. We have cargo surveyors on hand to establish the extent of any damage, where necessary, as well as to investigate the cause of the incident. WKW has already been instructed in this matter and may therefore be able to offer certain economies of scale in terms of third-party costs.

* In order to avoid undue delays, we strongly recommend that you contact us urgently if you have an interest in any cargo on board this vessel, so that we can immediately begin taking steps to protect your interests.
