* We have received reports that containership MSC HERMES III (IMO: 9350317) issued a distress signal whilst in a position approximately 174 nautical miles off the eastern coast of Nha Trang, Vietnam on 22 September 2026.
* It is reported that vessels in the vicinity attended the scene to provide assistance and all crew members were safely rescued from a lifeboat after they had abandoned the vessel.
* We understand that the vessel currently remains afloat, albeit drifting northeast in the South China Sea.
* It is possible that General Average / Salvage and associated Recovery issues may arise as a result of this casualty.
