* It is reported that general cargo vessel, LILY B, experienced a loss of power and went adrift in challenging weather conditions when in a position approximately two nautical miles off Hook Head, Eire on 20 October 2020.

* Emergency assistance was provided to the vessel by three RNLA lifeboats and a Coast Guard helicopter.

* A tug was later deployed from Waterford, Eire to take the vessel in tow to a port of refuge.

* The vessel is reported to be carrying a cargo of coal from Szczecin, Poland to New Ross, Eire.

* It is possible that General Average / Salvage and associated recovery issues may arise as a result of this casualty.

* If General Average is declared, General Average security may be required from the Cargo Interests prior to the delivery of their cargo and we are likely to be able to assist in that regard.

* Salvage Security may also be demanded from a source in the UK and W K Webster may be able to assist. Security provided by WKW is acceptable to the Council of Lloyds and widely preferred by professional Salvors.

* We therefore recommend that you contact us urgently if you are concerned with any cargo on board this vessel so that we can immediately start taking steps to protect your interests.
