As an enhancement to eSurvey, as well as to support traditional physical surveys, we have entered into an agreement with a professional drone services company and are able to offer aerial surveys where needed. Drone surveys should not just be limited to mapping open spaces or simple over-flights. We are able to arrange inspection of cargo, vessels, products, large scale plant and machinery as well as enclosed spaces, such as ship’s tanks/holds and even pipelines ashore.
Drones are able to easily carry out surveys on structures that might be difficult to physically access, whether they be on land or at sea. This can reduce risk to inspectors or surveyors having to work at heights, potentially in dangerous situations, such as damaged cranes or offshore structures, as well as saving costs and time that might otherwise be involved ensuring safe human access.
Drones are also augmenting physical attendance of inspectors for COPE (Construction Occupancy Protection Exposure) surveys, thus allowing insurers to evaluate risks prior to offering cover, or enabling bespoke cover to be provided. Warehouses or facilities may hold product inventory or stock totalling tens, if not hundreds of millions of dollars at any one time and drone footage may allow experts to better analyse overall risks or even make more detailed inspections of areas of specific concern or high risk.
