* It is reported that at least 33 containers were lost overboard from general cargo vessel, FRANCISCA, in challenging weather conditions off Duncansby Head, Scotland, whilst transiting the North Sea on 31 October 2020.

* The vessel is reported to remain cruising in the area with a tug escort and there remains a danger that further loss of cargo overboard may occur.

* FRANCISCA was en route from Hafnarfjordur, Iceland to Rotterdam, Netherlands at the time of the incident.

* Recovery issues will arise in respect of the cargo lost overboard and it is possible that shipowners will declare GA if the vessel requires to call at a port of refuge to secure the remaining cargo on board.

* In that case, GA security may be required from all Cargo Interests prior to the delivery of their cargo and we are likely to be able to assist in that regard.
