Report

* It is reported that general cargo vessel, XIN HONG suffered a shift in stow whilst on passage from Malaysia to Hong Kong on 18th December 2020 resulting in the vessel taking on a list.

* Reportedly the vessel was approximately 1.5 nautical miles from port of refuge, Phu Quy, when the list increased further, and the vessel partially sank.

* A number of crew were rescued by the Vietnamese Authorities, whilst 5 crew members remain missing.

* The vessel is reported to be loaded with a cargo of clay.

* It is possible that General Average / Salvage and Recovery issues may arise as a result of this casualty.

* If so, Salvage Security may be demanded from a source in the UK and W K Webster may be able to assist. Security provided by WKW is acceptable to the Council of Lloyds and is widely preferred by professional Salvors.

* Additionally, if General Average is declared, General Average security may be required from Cargo Interests prior to the delivery of their cargo and we are also likely to be able to assist in that regard.

* We therefore recommend that you contact us urgently if you insure any cargo on board this vessel and you require our assistance.
