* We have received the following updated casualty report:

* An inspection of fully cellular container vessel, MAERSK ELBA, determined that the vessel was unable to continue its voyage under its own power and it is now reported to be under tow by two tugs towards Algeciras, Spain. The convoy is expected to arrive at Algeciras on 31 December 2020.

* It is reported temporary repairs will be effected to the vessel at Algeciras before the vessel resumes its intended voyage to European ports.

* We understand that the carrier, MSC, have advised their customers that cargoes may be affected by this incident.

* It is possible that General Average issues may arise as a result of this casualty and time or temperature sensitive cargo may be adversely affected by the prolongation of the voyage. We therefore recommend that you contact us urgently if you are concerned with any cargo on board this vessel so that we can immediately start taking steps to protect your interests.


* It is reported that fully cellular container vessel, MAERSK ELBA, experienced an engine room fire in a position approximately 20 nautical miles off Sagres, Portugal on 26 December 2020.

* The vessel became disabled as a result of the fire and consequently anchored off Sagres whilst the crew attempt to effect repairs to damage caused by the fire. A tug has also been deployed to standby in case of need.

* It is possible that General Average, Salvage and/or Recovery issues may arise in respect of this casualty and therefore should you insure any cargo on this vessel and require our assistance, we recommend that you contact us as soon as possible.
