Report

------------------UPDATE-------------------

27 January 2021

* It is reported that an underwater inspection of bulk carrier, EUROSUN, revealed a small crack in the hull as a result of the vessel grounding on 23 January 2021.

* The damage to the hull has not caused flooding to the vessel's holds, but the vessel will not be permitted to move under its own power. It is reported that the vessel will be taken under tow, probably to Hambantota, for further inspection and repairs.

* It remains possible that General Average and/or Salvage issues may arise as a result of this casualty. We therefore recommend that you contact us urgently if you insure any cargo on board this vessel so that we can immediately start taking steps to protect your interests.

-----------------ORIGINAL--------------------

* We have received reports that bulk carrier, EUROSUN, has run aground on a reef, north east of Hambantota, Sri Lanka on 23 January 2021.

* The vessel was later refloated on the high tide on 24 January 2021 and we understand that the vessel was to move to anchor to allow an underwater inspection of the hull.

* A number of Coast Guard vessels and a tug were deployed to assist the vessel.

* It is possible that General Average and/or Salvage issues may arise as a result of this casualty.

* We therefore recommend that you contact us urgently if you are concerned with any cargo on board this vessel so that we can immediately start taking steps to protect your interests.
