-------------------UPDATE-----------------

15 March 2021

* It is understood that Owners of AFINA I and KIVELI have signed independent Lloyd's Open Form salvage Agreements and Salvage Security will be demanded from a source in the UK. Security provided by WKW is acceptable to the Council of Lloyds and is widely preferred by professional Salvors.

* Additionally, if General Average is declared, General Average security may be required from Cargo Interests prior to the delivery of their cargo and we are also likely to be able to assist in that regard.

* Should you insure any of the cargo carried onboard either vessel, we recommend that you contact us as soon as possible so that we can immediately start taking steps to protect your interests.

-------------------ORIGINAL-----------------

* It is reported that bulk carrier KIVELI and bulk carrier AFINA I (Grt 8,887, Built 2010) collided ten nautical miles West of Kythira Island, Greece on 13th March 2021.

* AFINA I is reported to be laden with up to 16,759 metric tons of Iron Ore and was proceeding from Novorossiysk, Russia to Bilbao Spain at the time of the collision.

* Following the collision, both vessels are reported to have sustained water ingress and remain coupled together. A number of tugs are in attendance and operations to de-couple the vessels will commence on 14th March.

* It is possible that Salvage, General Average and recovery issues may arise as a result of this casualty.

* Should you insure any of the cargo carried onboard either vessel, we recommend that you contact us as soon as possible so that we can immediately start taking steps to protect your interests.
