* We have received reports that general cargo ship, SEREN experienced an engine failure shortly after commencing its eastbound transit of the Kiel Canal on 10 December 2021.

* It is reported that the vessel was disabled as a consequence of the engine failure and was subsequently taken under tow by tugs to Brunsbuttel, where the vessel is currently moored for investigation and repairs.

* It is possible that General Average / Salvage and associated recovery issues may arise as a result of this casualty.

* We therefore recommend that you contact us urgently if you are concerned with any cargo on board this vessel so that we can immediately start taking steps to protect your interests.
