Casualty type Shift of Cargo
Vessel Type Bulk - VT BBU
Report

* We have received reports that bulk carrier, ST. COLUMBA experienced a shift of deck cargo of steel pipes whilst in a position off South Korea on 30 September 2022.

* The stability of the vessel was compromised as a consequence of the shift of cargo and the vessel subsequently diverted to Busan for inspection and necessary repairs.

* The vessel currently remains at anchor off Busan.

* General Average has been declared by shipowners. Consequently, GA security is required to be provided by, or on behalf of, all cargo stowed on board the vessel prior to the delivery of cargo and we may be able to assist in that regard.

* It is possible that Recovery issues may also arise in respect of any physical loss or damage to cargo stowed on board the vessel.

* We are already instructed by certain cargo insurers and we are currently liaising with Average Adjusters as to the terms of the GA security to be provided. We have a marine engineer on hand to investigate the cause of the incident and we may be able to offer certain economies of scale in respect of any third party costs which may need to be incurred in that regard.

* We therefore recommend that you contact us urgently if you are concerned with any cargo on board this vessel so that we can immediately start taking steps to protect your interests.
