MSC ARIES

* We have received reports that container carrier, MSC ARIES (IMO: 9857169) has been hijacked in an attack attributed to Iranian forces in a position approximately 50 nautical miles east of Fujairah, United Arab Emirates on 13 April 2024.

* It is reported that the vessel has been re-directed towards Iranian waters and that the AIS tracking system has been turned off.

* It is not currently clear what is the fate of the crew on board the vessel, but reports suggest it is unlikely they made it to the citadel given the course alterations observed since it was hijacked. Authorities in India are reportedly in contact with the Iranian Authorities to secure the crew's safety.

* We have already been approached by parties interested in certain cargo on board and so may be able offer economies of scale in terms of third-party costs. The attack will result in delay and an interruption to the voyage whilst the fate of cargo on board is yet to be determined.

* It is possible that losses may occur the result of this incident which may include General Average and possible Recovery aspects.

* We recommend that you contact us urgently if you are concerned with any cargo on board this vessel so that we can immediately start taking steps to protect your interests.
