CHIANG LAAN

* Further to our recent reports concerning the sinking of general cargo vessel CHIANG LAAN (IMO: 9092616), it has now been widely reported that the vessel sank as a result of boisterous conditions in a position off Koh Rong, Cambodia.

* It is reported that a number of containers have been spotted floating in the area and, presumably, attempts will be made to salvage those containers, where possible.

* We are currently seeking security from the vessels P&I insurer and we consider that the owner will seek to minimise their liability by way of package and tonnage limitation.

* We are already instructed for certain cargo onboard the vessel and we may be able to offer certain economies of scale in respect of any third party costs which may need to be incurred in handling this case, including investigative costs of the cause of the loss.

* We therefore recommend that you contact us urgently if you are concerned with any cargo on board this vessel so that we can immediately start taking steps to protect your interests.

* We have received reports that general cargo vessel, CHIANG LAAN (IMO: 9092616) sank in challenging weather conditions in a position approximately 22 nautical miles southeast of Sihanoukville, Cambodia on 09 June 2024.

* It is reported that all 10 crew members were safely evacuated by a nearby fishing vessel.

* It is possible that Recovery issues may arise as a result of this incident.

* We therefore recommend that you contact us if you are concerned with the cargo on board this vessel so that we can immediately start taking steps to protect your interests.
